Are you interested in teaching? Are you interested in working with youth? Successful students will receive 15 academic credits for participation in the program, and will be given a studio in the Visual Arts Department at Stellenbosch University All travel and living expenses are covered as part of the assistantship thanks to the generosity of a private donor and friend to NSCAD (students are required to pay tuition and applicable fees for the semester). Students who are interested in art education and working with teens; have a wide array of visual arts practices; have strong interpersonal skills and can work well on collaborative projects; and are mature and responsible are encouraged to apply. ac.

The NSCAD Art in Schools Initiative is a Research Assistantship open to NSCAD Undergraduate students who have completed a minimum of 60 credits. This program provides the opportunity for two students per year to travel to Cape Town, South Africa and work as an “artist in residence/ educator” in a local township high school in support of Prof. David B. Smith’s research study.
