COVID-19: Information and updates, March 18, 2020

Wednesday, March 18, 2020

As you will recall, yesterday NSCAD President Aoife Mac Namara invoked a new Notice of Restriction and Curriculum Completion Policy in response to the Covid-19 pandemic. As such, all NSCAD courses have been moved to remote or alternative delivery.

Implementing the new Notice of Restriction and Curriculum Completion Policy will allow students and instructors to continue classes without in-class instruction. Students will not be on site at any of NSCAD’s campuses during the notice of restriction period.

We recognize that students may have to retrieve work and/or equipment to complete projects during this time. With that in mind, students have until 7 p.m. tonight (March 18) to pick up any such work or equipment from NSCAD campuses. We recommend students only take what they need to complete their work. Any items in lockers can remain there, and will not be removed during NSCAD’s temporary transition to remote instruction.

If you are unable to pick up your work or tools by 7 p.m. tonight (March 18), you can still recover these things at a later date. However, to do so you must complete the Campus Access Authorization form at https://forms.nscad.ca/ and we will evaluate your request.

Any student wishing to return home ahead of evolving travel restrictions can feel free do so. Further details about this and other information is available on our COVID-19 update page. The student FAQs have been updated today.

Also, NSCAD faculty and staff will receive an update from Human Resources over email later this afternoon. This will detail options available to faculty and staff during this time.
