NEW Florals in Acrylics

Spaces Available

This intermediate painting course introduces methods of creating fresh, colourful and light-filled floral still life. Careful attention to studying natural forms that make up a variety of petals, leaves, stems and branches will be emphasized. Students will practice with painterly techniques to evoke light and shadow that create depth and dimension. Additionally, students will practice painting a variety of textures found in flora, as well as opacity and translucency. Compositional options using colour, angles, balance and repetition will be introduced along with props, textiles and vessels that can enhance the still life. Basic sketching (shape and form / light and shadow), personal photographs, and in-class collage will be used as resource materials. This course is designed for students who have experience and knowledge of colour theory, acrylic painting and basic drawing skills; it continues on from the Introduction to Acrylics course.
