The Space
The Institute will be located at NSCAD’s historic Fountain Campus in downtown Halifax through funding from the Canadian Foundation for Innovation and the Nova Scotia Department of Communities, Culture, and Heritage.
The infrastructure will include permanent office space for the director and support staff and temporary office space for visiting fellows who will include NSCAD, local, Canadian, and international graduate students (MA, MFA, PhD), as well as postdoctoral fellows.
The Institute will also allow fellows who are practicing artists, film makers, and cultural producers to access studio space to conceptualize and produce work onsite through artist-in-residence programs.
Other elements of the Institute include:
- Multi-purpose spaces for meetings, workshops, screenings, seminars, exhibitions, and readings
- Library and computer spaces with books, journals, annotated bibliographies and access to archival and various digital humanities resources
